No matter how happy we are in our lives after achieving our certain goals, but life could have other plans, as nobody knows what happens in the next moment. We have to remain cautious from all the diseases and conditions, which are waiting for our small mistakes, so that they can trap us. On researching around I came across about the condition, which brings a rare shock to the humanity viz., Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), it is a type of blood cancer. The mere mention of CML, make the life hell for the patient. However, in this situation, one has to be patient and think positively, so as to battle with this disease. Fortunately, due to the advancement in medical technology, there has been a ray of hope for patients braving this disease. Most of the patients have been reporting that they are facing this condition for more than 13 years now but leading a normal life after taking various treatments like Imatinib mesylate, which FDA approved in 2001. A few more inhibitors like Nilotinib have also shown superior rates of MMR and MR.
According to Dr Biswas, Consultant Medical Oncologist at Sparsh Hospitals and Critical Care (P) Ltd., some other treatment options include Dasatinib, Allogeneic bone marrow transplant, Interferon-Alfa (IFN-D) with or without cytosine arabinoside, Hydroxy-urea. However, doctors are of the view that consistent knowledge about a person’s diagnosis is needed to select the appropriate treatment.
